Gerry Kantor is a second generation San Diegan who grew up in the Point Loma and South Mission Beach areas, both of which are known for their numerous surfing reef breaks and beaches. He bodysurfed at a very young age, and started surfing in the early 1960's. He wrote for Surfer Magazine (known as "the Bible of the Sport") in the 1980's, and traveled extensively for surf in France, Mexico, Costa Rica and Hawaii. He is a graduate of nearby University of California at San Diego (UCSD) in La Jolla, and is a director of the National Surf Schools and Instructors Association.

DAN PERRAULT
HEAD INSTRUCTOR
/SUPERVISOR		 Local high school earth sciences teacher, who is a native of Ramona, California, and has surfed for 15 years. Dan is a graduate of nearby Cal State San Marcos.
   
MATT BLANCHARD
INSTRUCTOR		 Matt is currently a student at UC Santa Cruz in applied physics, born in nearby Del Mar, California, and was on the surf team at Torrey Pines High School. Matt is a second generation San Diego surfer (Dad surfs) and has surfed since he was five.
   
JOE FERRAN
INSTRUCTOR 		Joe is currently a student at USC in the school of business. He is orginally from Del Mar, California, and has surfed since he was five. Joe jokes, just call me "Jo" for short.
   
mARK MILLER
INSTRUCTOR		 Mark is a high school teacher, who recieved his undergraduate degree from UC Davis, and his graduate degree in Geosciences from Princeton University. Mark has surfed for 15 years.
   
All of our surfing instructors are CPR certified, experienced surfers, and trained by Leucadia Surf School to make sure that all of our clients actually get a chance to ride waves and actually surf during their lesson or camp. The instructors have written guidelines to insure the successful outcome of every surf class. They also have more than enough surfing experience to insure the safety of your surfing lesson or surf camp.
SURF INSTRUCTOR TRAINING: We are always searching for new and qualified surfing instructors to train. If you are interested in becoming a good surf instructor for Leucadia Surf School, are a college student or graduate from the UC system or other college, and a San Diego or California native, with 8-10 years or more of surfing experience, please email us a note detailing this and your surfing and vocational background via email. No previous experience as a surf instructor is preferred, so that we can train you in our own instructional methods.
