LEFT:
Gerry Kantor climbs up on the rock to get out of the water at Luscombs,
Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, California in the early 1960's. Check
out that new board! Don't ding it!
This surfboard was the standard size for a teenager in the 1960's.
This was not considered a "longboard" in those days, because
shortboards were not yet invented. These were the only type of surfboards
being ridden. There was also no cords or any good wetsuits. Really,
the way to surf!
